NHRC DONATES TO WAR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN SUPPORT OF FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

The Director of the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC), Dr. Abraham Oduro has, on behalf of the Management and Staff of the Centre donated essential items running into several thousands of Ghana cedis to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo in support of the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
The donation, which took place on 22nd April 2020 at the premises of the hospital, was in response to an appeal made by the management of the hospital to the Centre to support them with logistics for the fight against the covid-19 pandemic. In the wake of the covid-19 pandemic, the Director of NHRC had earlier held discussions with Management of the hospital to see how the Centre could help provide some immediate needs for the hospital to fight the pandemic.
During the presentation, Dr. Abraham Oduro stated that the Research Centre has had a long-standing relationship with the War Memorial Hospital. He said since the two institutions have been working to promote the health of the people in the Kassena-Nankana Municipal and its contiguous areas, the Centre could not ignore the request for such assistance. Dr. Oduro was hopeful that the items will go a long way in providing some cover to the health workers in the fight against the pandemic.
Receiving the items, Ag. Medical Superintendent of the War Memorial Hospital, Dr. Edwin Saanwie thanked the Director of the Navrongo Health Research Centre for the quick response to the appeal and promised that the items will be put to good use and the purpose for which they were acquired. He further acknowledged other support that the Centre has provided to the hospital in the past and was hopeful that the long-standing partnership will continue as both institutions continue to work to improve the health of the people.
The items included 50 packets of disposable gloves, 700 pieces of cloth face masks, 5 packets N95 face masks, 2000 IV syringes, and several containers of methylated spirits. In addition, 100 bottles of hand sanitizers (200mls/bottle) and several gallons of disinfectants were presented. The rest include 3 cylinders of oxygen, 15 packets of Rocephine, 510 bottles of dextrose 5%, 400 bottles of dextrose 10%, 510 bottles normal saline, boxes of cotton wool, 40 packets vitamin C and paracetamol tablets among others.
The Director of the NHRC was accompanied by the management team of the Centre to make the donation. They included; Mrs. Andriana Sumboh, Administrator, Dr. Patrick Ansah, Head of the Clinical Science Department, Dr. Evelyn Sakeah, Head of Social Science Department, Dr. Victor Asoala, Head of Biomedical Science Department and Mr. Jonas Dakurah, Head of Finance.
