NHRC PARTICIPATES AT THE 2024 RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION DISSEMINATION

Staff of the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC) participated in the just ended Research and Development Division (RDD) Annual Health Research Dissemination Forum which took place from the 21st to 23rd of August 2024.

The event which took place at the University of Ghana Medical Centre Limited at Accra brought together health researchers from the various research centres under the Ghana Health Service, industry leaders, policy makers and stakeholders in various sectors of the country to deliberate on the theme, “Driving Participation, Innovation and Excellence in the Network of Practice: The Role of Health Research”.

The Director of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye in his opening remarks acknowledged the leadership of the Research and Development Division and their contribution to the health research agenda in the country. He concluded stating the relevance of health research forums in shaping a sustaining and effective health service delivery across the country.

 

NHRC’S PARTICIPATION AT THE 2024 RDD DISSEMINATION

Seven staff from the Navrongo Health Research Centre presented their innovative research during the 2024 RDD Health Research Dissemination Forum. Five of these presentations were oral presentations whilst the two of them were poster presentations. By Felix Awelana Awe and Gloria Alongya.

Staff members who championed these novel and innovative research studies included Emmanuel Yidana, who presented on the Evaluation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention Implementation in the Upper East Region of Northern Ghana, Joseph Alale, presented on “Novel Association of PSCK9 Variant with Diastolic Blood Pressure in Northern Ghanaian Adults” and Bernice Ama Baako who presented on, “Entomological Assessment of the Risk of Transmission of Dengue Fever in the Kassena – Nankana District of Northern Ghana”. Additionally, Oscar Bangre, a senior clinical research coordinator with the Clinical Science Department Presented on, “Rebound in the Plasmodium falciparum reservoir following the discontinuation of indoor residual spraying and implementation of seasonal malaria chemoprevention in Bongo District” whilst Jeremiah Ganyo rounded off the three-day event with his presentation on, “Seasonality and Antimicrobial Resistance of Streptococcus Pneumonia Among Children in the Kassena – Nankana Districts of Northern Ghana”.

The diverse range of topics presented by staff of the Navrongo Health Research Centre is indicative of the Centre’s multidisciplinary research endeavors and commitment to improving healthcare delivery and advancing knowledge on health research in Ghana.

The 2024 RDD Health Research Dissemination forum was a resounding success. NHRC staff played a pivotal role in sharing innovative research findings that have the potential to transform healthcare in Ghana. Their dedication and expertise are invaluable assets in the pursuit of better health outcomes.
