The Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC) has been recognized by the Ghana Malaria Excellence Awards for its “unflinching service, dedication, innovation and excellence in the area of malaria research”.
The award for “Excellence in Malaria Research” was conferred upon the Centre on the 6th of May, 2022 at the maiden edition of the Ghana Malaria Excellence Awards held in Accra. The event which was themed, “Engendering Stakeholders Participation towards a Zero Malaria Ghana,” was organized by the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) to appreciate the role partners play in the fight against malaria in the country.
The maiden ceremony which formed part of the year-long activities to commemorate this year’s World Malaria Day celebration saw all the 16 regional health directorates presented with citations while community health volunteers, who excelled in awareness creation were given citations and valuable prices.
The Excellence in Malaria Research award was also conferred on the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dodowa Health Research Centre, Kintampo Health Research Centre and the University of Ghana School of Public Health.
NHRC has over the years conducted policy informing research and contributed significantly to initiatives aimed at disrupting malaria transmission in Ghana.
